Drunk Elephant Sweet Biome Spray Review

Drunk Elephant launched their Sweet Biome Fermented Sake Spray on January 1, 2021. Talk about a refreshing way to start the new year! Sweet B (we love nicknames around here) is the everyday hero product that’s been missing in your routine.

Priced at $42 USD, Sweet B is a spray with a unique blend of vital amino and fatty acids, electrolytes, and ceramides that “supports and replenishes a healthy microbiome while adding vital components to the acid mantle (aka the skin barrier) to keep the skin strong and balanced.” Each bottle is 100ml and contains about 1,000 sprays. Sweet B will available everywhere Drunk Elephant is sold in January 2021.

As always, Drunk Elephant is 100% free of essential oils, silicones, and fragrance. Sweet B is also vegan and cruelty-free. That being said, there is a subtle nutty scent due to the high concentration of fermented ingredients, plant oils, and antioxidants.

Key ingredients include:

  • Fermented sake extract
  • Kombucha
  • Hops
  • Coconut water
  • Sodium PCA

The fermented sake extract, kombucha, and hops restore and soothe the skin, while coconut water and sodium PCA provide powerful antioxidants and hydration.

When can you use Sweet B in your routine? In short, anytime! Drunk Elephant recommends using this spray whenever your skin needs a refresh or on a clean, dry face in the morning and at night. You can also use Sweet B with any Drunk Elephant serum, treatment, or moisturizer.

Personally, I like to use Sweet B midday as a little pick me up. You know that feeling where your work day starts to slow down around 3pm and it seems like time could not pass any slower? This spray has quickly become my go-to refresher for moments like that. I’m not exaggerating when I say Sweet B re-energizes my skin and makes it feel rejuvenated. There’s almost a tingly-like sensation that is felt on my skin for a brief moment that feels so satisfying.

While Sweet B is not a setting spray, it can definitely still be implemented in a makeup routine. For days when I wear makeup, I also like to use Sweet B as a hydrating spray to melt my makeup together for a more seamless, healthy look. Who doesn’t love radiant skin?

As someone with sensitive, acne-prone skin, I can happily report that Sweet B has not irritated my skin or caused any breakouts. I know the thought of having kombucha and fermented sake extract can be concerning for those of us with problem skin, but my experience has been pleasant. Even though my skin is currently healthy and relatively clear, I still like using Sweet B because it helps further strengthen my skin against pollution and reduce redness.

Since Sweet B uses fermented probiotics as opposed to live bacteria, the product does not have to be refrigerated. However, you can pop it in the fridge for a cooling effect.
