September 2018 Favorites

I’m so excited fall is here! Even though it’s still been pretty warm here in California, I’ve been bundling myself in sweaters, jackets, and boots. By the time noon rolls around, I end up stewing in a pile of sweat, but it’s fall and I’m ready to bust out my warmer wardrobe, ok?!

I’ve also been picking up a bunch of pumpkin spice flavored seasonal products from Trader Joe’s and Target because yes, I am that girl. 100% basic. 100% no regrets. I also got a super cute Dia de los Muertos sugar skull succulent from Trader Joe’s to add to my succulent family. It’s currently on display for fall in my latest YouTube videos, so you’ll be seeing it in my Halloween makeup tutorials and whatnot. Anywho, let’s get on into my September favorites.

Beauty

Origins A Perfect World Cleanser

As you might remember, I recently ran out of my Derma E Hydrating Cleanser. I found The Origins A Perfect World Cleanser laying around in my skincare shelf, so I decided to give it a try. I’ve been reaching for this more and more to remove my makeup because some nights I can’t be bothered to spend time wiping off my face with the Bliss Makeup Melt on a cotton round when I can easily wet my face, lather it with this Origins cleanser, and be done. Getting mascara off with the Origins cleanser is so much quicker. A Perfect World has a pleasant floral, orange scent and I’ve been loving it.

Pixi Beauty Liquid Fairy Lights in Crystalline

If you’re looking for a drugstore dupe of the Stila Glitter & Glow liquid eyeshadows, this is it! Pixi Beauty’s Liquid Fairy Lights come in 5 shades (see eye swatches below). Crystalline, a white based shadow with green, purple, and pink glitters, is my absolute favorite because it comes with multicolored glitters in an assortment of sizes. The other shades contain small glitters in either silver or a mix of silver and gold. My go-to eye look using Crystalline is a pink or red half cut crease. Since I have hooded eyes, I take my cut crease up past my actual crease, which makes my eyes look bigger and also allows the glitter to be visible while my eyes are open. It’s so flattering!

Revlon Kiss Cushion Lip Tint in Crimson Feels

Revlon Kiss Cushion Lip Tints have the color payoff of a lip stain with the comfort of a lip balm. Formulated with coconut oil, these lip tints leave my lips so moisturized and smooth. The applicator is fun and unique in that you have to twist it up to get the product out onto the plush tip. I find that some of the color does come off while eating, especially in the center of my lips, but it’s really no big deal because I can easily reapply it with one swipe after eating.

Shea Moisture African Black Soap 2-in-1 Bubble Bath and Body Wash

Made with oats, aloe, and vitamin E, the Shea Moisture African Black Soap 2-in-1 Bubble Bath and Body Wash is a luxurious smelling body wash that leaves my skin so smooth and nourished after a shower. The scent lingers on my skin well after taking a shower and even fills my bathroom with a warm aroma. As someone with sensitive skin, I love this body wash because it’s formulated without a bunch of ingredients that can be irritants, like fragrance and SLS. Want the full list? It’s paraben-free, sodium lauryl sulfate-free, propylparaben-free, butylparaben-free, formaldehyde-free, formaldehyde donor-free, nonylphenol ethoxylate free, sulfate-free, dye-free, fluoride-free, aluminum-free, and fragrance free. In other words, a must have!

Fashion

Boohoo Bethany Denim Jacket

I’ve literally been wearing this denim jacket non-stop ever since I got it. Remember that black sunhat I got that I constantly wear and goes with every outfit? This is the jacket version of that. Seriously, it’s the perfect way to spruce up any outfit and make me look more put together in an effortless way. I love pairing this denim jacket with a basic gray, black, or white t-shirt, black leggings, and Adidas sneakers AKA the quintessential California casual outfit. I don’t know how I went so long without ever owning a denim jacket. This is definitely a staple everyone needs in their wardrobe.

Food

Kodiak Cakes Energy Cakes Pumpkin Flax

Breakfast foods have always been my favorite, especially pancakes. I tried Kodiak Cakes for the first time several months ago and fell in love with them for how delicious, protein-packed, and easy they are to make. All I have to do is just add water to the mix and cook! When I saw the Pumpkin Flax flavor on the shelf at Target, you know I snatched that up real quick. Plus, 10 grams of protein? Amazing. The pumpkin flavor isn’t overpowering, at all, which I enjoy. It’s just the right amount of a fall flavor in a pancake. Making a batch of pumpkin pancakes has become my new weekend morning routine.
